Animoto was launched last year and recently has been made FREE to Educators. Animoto provides a creative alternative way to view and listen to slideshows. Created by film and music producers, you upload your photos, choose some music you like from their huge range of styles and artists, or use your own music or voice, and you get an impressive slideshow.

This is really an exciting site. As our Web 2.0 unit on family and Randall Jarrell’s The Animal Family winds down, I plan to introduce this site to my students as a vewhicle through which to create a representation of their perceptions of family, drawing on the reading, their forums and journals, and their Wordles for family. In a music video age, this might be a powerful tool for expression.
